Hi all! I know it’s been a while since I updated my game development progress. I started getting really busy this past month as I spent more time preparing for job interviews and working on some other side projects that I’m not ready to talk about quite yet.
However, I am proud to announce that last weekend I finished my Unreal 5 / C++ course that I have been working on in my free time and finished the final project which is a simple 3rd person shooter. Here is some recorded gameplay of the project I was working on:
It is a very simple third person shooter where the objective is to eliminate all the AI-controlled enemies on the level. There is definitely a lot to improve upon such as adding different guns, using ammo, health pickups, etc. that I’ll continue to be working on to implement without the help of a course and instructor.
This course took me about four months here and there. My main goal was to get reacquainted with C++ again to put into IoT and electronics projects with the side benefit of learning Unreal Engine 5. I had a lot of fun going through the course and have learned a lot in the process. It is definitely super rewarding to set a goal and see it through to completion.
And a little bonus…
I actually started doing a bit of 3D modeling in Blender as well and completed a short Blender course on creating low poly 3D characters. It was definitely a nice change of place from all the hardcore technical interviews and game programming I have been doing. I got a chance to use my artistic abilities that have laid dormant for a long time and it has inspired me to pick up a sketchbook again.
Anyways thanks for reading and celebrating with me.
